Welcome from Miss Brown!
Our Learning
In our Nursery and Reception class, we provide a nurturing approach to learning, creating a safe, supportive and stimulating environment where every child feels valued and confident to explore.
We support children in developing our core values: respect, responsibility and resilience. We encourage children to build positive relationships, show kindness and consideration towards others, and take pride in caring for their learning environment. Through encouragement and support, they develop the confidence to overcome challenges and become motivated, resilient learners.
Our curriculum is built around engaging topics that inspire curiosity and excitement which we enhance using the children's current interests. By valuing children's interests and encouraging independence, we create meaningful learning experiences that inspire curiosity, foster a love of learning and help every child reach their full potential. We provide opportunities for creative play, outdoor learning and ??? help children develop their curiosity, imagination and problem-solving skills.
Children are encouraged to make choices, investigate, problem-solve and develop independence through child initiated learning and adult led sessions.
Nursery
For many children, Nursery is the beginning of their school journey, and we work closely with families to help children settle happily, make friends and feel valued in our class.
We focus on supporting children's personal, social and emotional development, helping them learn to play alongside others, share ideas and express their feelings.
We place great value on developing children's language and communication skills, helping them to express their ideas, build friendships and become confident members of our school community.
Reception
In Reception, we build upon the foundations established in Nursery, supporting children as they become independent and confident learners. Reception is a year of growth, discovery and achievement as children continue to build the knowledge and skills that will support them throughout their education.
Throughout the year, children develop their understanding of reading, writing and mathematics through engaging activities and purposeful learning experiences.
Homework
In Fledglings, Reception children take home a reading book each day that is carefully matched to their current phonics knowledge and reading ability. Children are also provided with a reading record to share their reading experiences and celebrate their progress both at home and at school. Regular reading at home helps children build confidence, practise new skills and develop a love of books and stories.
