Welcome
Our vision, values and ethos

We are a nurturing school, chosen by parents for our exceptional rural setting and family atmosphere. Our ambitious curriculum promotes learning through exploration and discovery. Children love going beyond the classroom, into our community to find their voice and place in the world. They become engaged, curious and creative.
Wherever your story will take you, it starts here!
Anstey First School, Nursery and Pre-school near Buntingford offers a warm and welcoming package of education and wraparound care for children aged from 2 to 9 years.
We are a rural village school, and this is at the heart of our unique offer: children explore and discover through engaging with the world around them. For Anstey pupils, that means they are out in the countryside, in fields and woodland. The learning does not stop at the classroom door - we go beyond the walls and beyond the curriculum!
We are proud to be part of the Buntingford and Rib Valley 3-tier group of schools. We work in collaboration with partner schools at all stages of children's journey - from our neighbouring First schools, to Edwinstree Middle School, all the way to Freman College. We understand the journey your child is on, and we support them to prepare for it.
Here at Anstey, with the support of our community (to whom we are forever grateful!), we have superb outside facilities which include a Wildlife area and pond for our Outdoor Adventures, two climbing walls, an outside classroom (“The Cabin”) and raised beds in which our children learn about growing herbs and vegetables.
We hope you enjoy exploring our site - please get in touch on admin@anstey.herts.sch.uk if you would like to arrange a tour of the school.
